About Kenny
Hi, I’m Kenny.
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where I still live today with my wife Jackie, our son Fisher, and our energetic Wheaten Terrier.
Although I’ve always loved real estate, my professional career began in banking. After graduating from Missouri State University with a degree in Finance, I spent the next twenty years helping small business owners secure financing and grow their businesses.
Working with hundreds of entrepreneurs taught me lessons that still guide me today:
- Relationships matter.
- Trust is earned.
- Treat people the way you’d want to be treated.
Those principles have shaped every business decision I’ve made.
Discovering Storage
Like many people, I was first introduced to self-storage as a customer. I owned duplexes and enjoyed investing in real estate, but once I discovered self-storage, I realized it combined everything I loved.
It wasn’t just real estate. It was a business.
I enjoyed solving problems, improving operations, investing in technology, and creating a better experience for customers.
In 2020, I purchased my first storage facility from owners who were ready to retire. I’ll admit — I was nervous.
- I answered the phones.
- Swept units.
- Cleaned hallways.
- Handled maintenance.
- I learned the business by doing the work.
Even after approximately twenty acquisitions, I still get excited — and yes, still a little nervous — every time we purchase a new facility. That feeling reminds me that every acquisition matters.
Why I Continue Buying
Today, our family owns more than 1,000 storage units across several states and has completed approximately twenty acquisitions. People often ask why I continue buying instead of slowing down.
The answer is simple. I genuinely enjoy what I do.
I love improving facilities. I enjoy implementing new software, websites, online marketing, LED lighting, security cameras, and access control systems.
Most of all, I enjoy providing customers with a clean, safe place to store the things that matter to them.
Family
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me spending time with my wife Jackie, our son Fisher, and our dog. We love spending time at our cabin in Northern Missouri, sitting around a campfire and enjoying the outdoors.
From time to time, Fisher rides along with me when I’m visiting our storage facilities. Hopefully one day, if he chooses, he’ll continue building what we’re creating today.
That’s what legacy means to me.
